Moroccan Driver Caught Smuggling $7,000 Worth of Hashish at Spanish Port

The Spanish Civil Guard arrested on Friday a Moroccan at the port of Algeciras, in possession of four kilos of hashish hidden in the cabin of his vehicle.
The Moroccan, coming from the port of Tangier Med, is accused of a crime against public health because he was transporting hashish that the Civil Guard agents discovered after a thorough inspection of his vehicle.
In total, 22 packages of hashish resin corresponding to four kilos and valued at more than 6,500 euros were seized and made available to the Algeciras investigating court for the purposes of the investigation.
A large part of the Moroccan hashish traffic transits through the port of Tangier-Med to Europe. A port that recorded in 2020, according to a statement from the Port Authority, a turnover of 2.42 billion dirhams, an increase of 1% compared to 2019.
