Moroccan Dirham Weakens Against Euro, Gains on Dollar in Mid-September

The Moroccan dirham appreciated by 0.23% against the US dollar and depreciated by 0.58% against the euro during the period from September 12 to 18, 2024, according to Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM).
During this period, no auction operation was carried out on the foreign exchange market, BAM specifies in its weekly bulletin.
As of September 13, official reserve assets stood at 366.1 billion dirhams (MMDH), up 0.6% from the previous week and 2.5% year-on-year, the same source said.
On the interbank market, the average daily trading volume stood at 2.5 MMDH, while the interbank rate remained at 2.75%.
As for the stock market, the MASI index rose by 1.2%, bringing its performance since the beginning of the year to 16.5%. This development is explained in particular by the increases recorded in the real estate (+3.5%), banking (+1.2%), and building and construction materials (+1.9%) sectors.
The weekly trading volume stood at 481 million dirhams, compared to 1.3 MMDH the previous week, mainly carried out on the central equity market.
