Moroccan Dirham Strengthens Against Euro and Dollar in October

The dirham appreciated by 0.47% against the euro and 1% against the US dollar in October 2021, according to indicators published by Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM).
During this period, the central bank purchased a total of $925 million, the equivalent of 8.3 billion dirhams (MMDH), the same source adds.
On the interbank market, the volume of foreign exchange transactions against dirhams stood at 12.3 MMDH in October, down 16.4 MMDH from the same month a year earlier.
Regarding banks’ transactions with customers, their volume amounted to 28.5 MMDH for spot purchases and 13.5 MMDH for term purchases, compared to 22.7 MMDH and 10.5 MMDH respectively a year earlier.
As for sales, they amounted to 28.4 MMDH for spot transactions and 3.8 MMDH for term transactions, after 23.5 MMDH and 3.7 MMDH respectively.
