Moroccan Dirham Strengthens Against Dollar and Euro in June, Central Bank Reports

The dirham appreciated by 1.78% against the US dollar and 1.40% against the euro in June 2020, according to [Bank Al Maghrib (BAM)>word853]
In its monthly review of the economic, monetary and financial situation for July 2020, BAM indicates that no auction session has been held since April 2018.
Regarding the volume of foreign exchange transactions against the dirham in the interbank market, it stood at 15.5 billion dirhams (MMDH) in March 2020, up 625 million dirhams (MDH) compared to the same month of the previous year.
As for the banks’ transactions with customers, their volume stood in May at 16.1 MMDH for spot purchases and 7 billion DH for term purchases, compared to 25.3 billion DH and 12.7 billion DH respectively the same month a year earlier.
As for sales, they amounted to 18.7 billion DH for spot transactions and 1.7 billion DH for term transactions.
