The Moroccan dirham gains value against the euro

The Moroccan dirham appreciated by 0.46% against the euro and depreciated by 0.19% against the US dollar between February 8 and 14, 2024, according to Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM).
During this period, no auction operation was carried out on the foreign exchange market, BAM indicates in its weekly bulletin.
As of February 9, 2024, the official reserve assets stood at 354.8 billion dirhams (MMDH), down 0.5% from the previous week and up 6.8% year-on-year, the same source said.
As for BAM’s interventions, they averaged 118.4 MMDH per day, including 42.4 MMDH in the form of 7-day advances, 48.2 MMDH in long-term repurchase agreements and 27.8 MMDH in guaranteed loans.
On the stock market, the MASI gained 1.6%, bringing its performance since the beginning of the year to 5.5%. This weekly change mainly reflects the increases in the indices of the health (+13.4%), banking (+2.3%) and real estate investment (+1.7%) sectors.
As for the weekly trading volume, it increased from 712.8 million dirhams to 1.2 MMDH, mainly carried out on the central equity market.
