Moroccan Diaspora Remittances Surge 14% to 45 Billion Dirhams

Just over 45 billion dirhams were sent to Morocco by Moroccans residing abroad by the end of last May, according to figures released by the Foreign Exchange Office.
These amounts show an increase of 14% compared to the same period last year, the same source specifies in its document on the monthly indicators of foreign trade for the month of May.
Moreover, the balance of trade in services shows a surplus up 22.58 billion dirhams to 52.42 billion dirhams, it is indicated.
As for exports, they amounted to 101.59 billion dirhams, up 43.3% compared to May 2022, while imports jumped by 19.7% to 49.16 billion dirhams. Morocco’s trade deficit stood at nearly 116.58 billion dirhams (MMDH) in slight progression of 1.7% at the end of May 2023.
