Moroccan Diaspora Remittances Surge 37% to $10 Billion in 2021

As of the end of December 2021, remittances made by Moroccans living abroad reached nearly 93.3 billion dirhams, compared to 68.18 MMDH a year earlier.
Transfers thus increased by 36.8%, according to the Office des Changes in its recent report on monthly foreign trade indicators. The indicators show a 0.3% increase in the surplus of the services trade balance to 64.16 MMDH.
Exports improved by 6% to reach 139.018 MMDH at the end of December 2021, and imports increased by 11.4% to 74.855 MMDH, the same source said.
Regarding Travel, its balance fell by 8.9% due to a 6% drop in travel receipts to 34.27 MMDH. At the same time, travel expenses remained almost stable compared to the end of December 2020.
