Moroccan Cyclist Injured in Elephant Attack on Botswana-Zambia Border

Abdelhadi Cecradi, a young Moroccan cyclist who has been touring Africa since July 15, 2018, crossed paths with an apparently angry elephant on the border between Botswana and Zambia. He was successfully operated on Thursday, March 26, in a clinic in Gaborone.
The serious accident that the 23-year-old cyclist suffered occurred during his passage at the border between these two countries in southern Africa. Stung by the passage of a truck, an elephant attacked Abdelhadi Cecradi. In his flight, the young Moroccan hit a tree. Result: a serious double fracture of the cyclist’s left hand and risks of infection.
Informed, the services of the Moroccan embassy in South Africa took steps in collaboration with the authorities of Botswana in this context marked by the closure of borders due to the spread of the coronavirus. It was a question of transporting the Moroccan cyclist to a clinic in Gaborone. The native of Guelmim underwent urgent and successful surgery in this hospital. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad covered all medical expenses.
Subsequently, Abdelhadi Cecradi told MAP-Johannesburg that the operation was a complete success. He also expressed his gratitude to Morocco for the handling of his case.
