Moroccan Customs Seize €890,000 in Currency Smuggling Bust at Guerguarat Border

A roadside check by the customs services at the Guerguarat border post thwarted a currency trafficking operation. To this end, a sum of 890,000 euros, in the possession of a Mauritanian national, was confiscated.
A source close to Hespress announced the aborted trafficking operation. This led to the seizure of bundles of euro banknotes, hidden in a handbag. The owner of this fortune, a Mauritanian, was trying to bring it into the Kingdom without the authorization of the relevant financial services. Unfortunately for him, he was intercepted by the Guerguarat customs.
For the needs of the investigation, the person concerned was brought before the competent prosecutor’s office, reported the same source.
