Moroccan Craft Exports Surge 50% in 2021, Reaching 893 Million Dirhams

Strongly shaken by the health crisis, the crafts sector experienced a strong rebound in activity in 2021, achieving an export turnover of more than 893 MDH, an increase of 50% compared to the previous year.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, almost all products have shown good performance. The export turnover of craft products rebounded in 2021, reaching 893 million dirhams.
In detail, the demand for metalwork products has seen a very strong increase, multiplying its sales by 5 compared to the year 2020, ranking first in terms of evolution.
Significant increases were also recorded for wrought iron, wicker, pottery and stone products, whose exports increased by 95%, 91% and 74% respectively, the ministry notes.
