Moroccan Court Upholds Election Results, Rejecting PJD Party’s Appeals in Marrakech

The appeals of the PJD against the RNI after the elections did not succeed. The court confirmed the results proclaimed by the Ministry of the Interior, thus dismissing the PJD candidate, Abderrazak Jebbour.
The party had filed several appeals to obtain the cancellation of the election of the RNI candidates in the last election in the Marrakech region. They concerned all the constituencies where RNI candidates were elected, while those won by other parties were not affected.
According to Al Akhbar which reports the court’s decision, these appeals were unsuccessful, plunging the PJD, which was playing its last card, into an unprecedented crisis.
In its analysis, the newspaper indicates that this practice encouraged by the party leaders, shows that the last rout in the elections is still poorly accepted within the PJD.
It should be noted that the commune is led by the PAM which won the majority of seats in the constituency. The RNI occupies the 2nd place. In its downfall, the PJD ranked 4th with only 6 seats out of 37, behind the Istiqlal.
