Moroccan Court Sentences Teenage Protester to 5 Years in Prison for Rioting

The criminal chamber of the Court of Appeal of Al Hoceima sentenced, on Tuesday, December 10, a minor to 5 years in prison, for having participated in the demonstrations in the region.
Currently on the run, the young man was prosecuted for obstructing traffic, insulting and assaulting law enforcement officers in the performance of their duties.
The minor is also accused of premeditated assault causing serious injury, vandalism of public utility elements and armed gathering in a public place.
The first instance judgment was pronounced in absentia due to the absence of the accused, in addition to a lump sum fine and its payment by his guardian.
