Moroccan Court Ruling on Psychological Violence Hailed as Women’s Rights Victory

The Democratic Association of Moroccan Women welcomes the recent judgment by the Court of First Instance in Fès, which condemned the psychological violence exerted by two individuals on a young girl. For the association, this court decision is a "victory".
The ADFM congratulates the Court of First Instance in Fès for this judgment because, according to it, psychological violence, like all other forms of violence, constitutes a violation of women’s rights. The association therefore approves of this judgment, which aims to enforce Law 103.13 on the protection and respect of the victim’s rights.
For the association, the recognition of the offense of psychological violence is a "victory" and marks a decisive step in the process of combating violence against women.
The ADFM calls on decision-makers and other opinion leaders to publish and widely disseminate this type of judgment and judicial decisions, in order to raise awareness about respecting the provisions of the law.
The association also calls for raising public awareness of the phenomenon of violence against women and girls through all channels of socialization and information.
