Moroccan Court Increases Sentence to Life for Child Murderer in Ikhlas Case

The criminal chamber of the Court of Appeal of Nador increased the sentence of the main defendant in the case of the kidnapping and murder of little Ikhlas, sentencing him to life imprisonment. In the first instance, the man had been sentenced to 25 years in prison.
The verdict has finally been handed down. The main defendant in the murder of little Ikhlas, who was only 3 years old, was sentenced to life imprisonment, after the appeal trial in Nador, reports Alyaoum24. He must also pay compensation of 500,000 DH to the victim’s father.
The Royal Gendarmerie had found little Ikhlas dead near her home on January 22, 2019, in the Douar Ikrouden, in the commune of Azalaf, lying in a forest on the outskirts of Driouch. The police had then arrested several people, including the victim’s uncle.
Sentenced to 25 years in prison in the first instance, the main defendant had appealed the verdict.
