Moroccan Court Hears Israeli Defendants in Nationality Fraud Case

The examination of the case of counterfeiting official documents to obtain Moroccan nationality for the benefit of Israelis continues. The Casablanca Court of Appeal heard the accused, who speak Arabic, last Wednesday.

The Israeli J.T, originally from an Arab country, was heard by the court during the hearing held on Wednesday. He said he had contacted Amina B. and the tour guide Ali M. in order to obtain Moroccan nationality, reports Alyaoum24.

Following his request, Ali M. would have asked him for his passport, his identity card and his birth certificate, as well as those of his father, before any procedure for the acquisition of Moroccan nationality. According to his statements, the Israeli and Ali M. would have agreed on a commission amount, adding that after 5 months he obtained the national identity card and the Moroccan passport.

The tour guide Ali M., refuted the version of the Israeli, indicating that he would have simply played the intermediary between the Israeli and Amina B. and that he was not aware of Amina’s activity. As for Amina, she claimed that she had simply helped the tour guide, by taking them to some administrations against a sum of 2,000 dirhams. Regarding the Israeli’s file, she said she had not received any amount.

At the end of their statements, the court therefore decided to hear L.H., an Israeli from an Arab country who had acquired Moroccan nationality through the network dismantled by the Moroccan security services. However, his lawyer, Abdelkrim Mlih, indicated that he must be heard in the presence of an interpreter, specifying that L.H. does not express himself extensively in Arabic to defend himself in a colossal judicial affair, specifies Alyaoum24.

The next hearing is scheduled for this week.
