Moroccan Court Dismisses Case Against Controversial "Fatah Al-Andalus" TV Series

The Court of First Instance in Rabat has rendered its decision on the case of the request to stop the broadcast of the series "Fatah Al-Andalus".
The Court of First Instance in Rabat declared itself incompetent in the case of the request to stop the broadcast of the series "Fatah Al-Andalus", reports Hespress. This decision follows the complaint filed by the Amazigh activist, Rachid Bouhaddouz. According to him, the content of this series is in contradiction with the history of Morocco. The prime-time series "insults the symbols of Moroccans and undermines the territorial integrity of the country, and therefore should not be broadcast on public television," he had said.
Several other voices have also called for the suspension of the series from the programming grid of Al Aoula. This series "conveys erroneous messages to the Moroccan public and could promote these false ideas to viewers," they judge.
"Fatah Al-Andalus" is a fiction inspired by historical events and not a documentary work, and Al Aoula is not responsible for the production, sources within the national first channel have recalled.
