Moroccan Couples Arrested in Ceuta with 200kg of Hashish, Children in Tow

Two couples of Moroccans residing in Belgium were arrested on Sunday in Ceuta in possession of more than 200 kilos of hashish hidden in their vehicles. They were accompanied by their minor children (four each), aged 1 to 15 years, who were taken care of by the Child Protection Service of the autonomous city.
The two couples were arrested on Sunday in the port of Ceuta as they were trying to board to Algeciras with respectively 115.1 kilos and 87.1 kilos of hashish hidden under the dashboard and footrests of their vehicles, the local command of the Benemérita said in a statement to the press on Monday.
The agents intercepted the first vehicle registered in Belgium in which were a 39-year-old Moroccan, holder of a work permit and residing in Belgium, his 29-year-old Belgian wife and their four children. About 115.1 kilos of hashish were found in the vehicle, hidden under the dashboard and footrests, reports El Confidencial.
An hour later, a 48-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, both of Moroccan nationality, holders of a work permit and residing in Belgium, were arrested in possession of 87.1 kilos of hashish hidden in the same places of their vehicle on board which their four children were also traveling.
The four parents were made available to the competent court as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health. As for the eight minor children, aged 1 to 15 years, they were taken care of by the Child Protection Service of Ceuta and distributed in two centers.
