Moroccan Couple Among Four Intercepted in Kayak Crossing to Ceuta

The maritime service of the Civil Guard intercepted on Thursday a kayak occupied by four candidates for illegal immigration, including a Moroccan couple. Despite the intensity of the morning fog, the rescue was carried out without incident and the suspects were placed in quarantine.
The Moroccan couple (the man, 33, and the woman, 22), originally from Tangier where they have been married for two years, without money and without work, decided, with two friends, to take a kayak to leave Fnideq. "The trip went well, despite the intense fog... When we saw the Civil Guard, we were very happy," they recount in an interview conducted by telephone by El Faro de Ceuta.
The couple, as well as their two friends, were placed in quarantine. Many Moroccans, candidates for illegal immigration, cross Ceuta by swimming, kayak or boat to reach Spain at the risk of their lives.
