Moroccan Consulate Faces Legal Action Over Unpaid Compensation in Wrongful Dismissal Case

For not having respected for a year the court’s decision in favor of an employee wrongfully dismissed, the Moroccan consulate in Murcia was back in court this Wednesday. The victim requested the seizure of the consular institution’s accounts to force it to pay the remainder of her compensation.
The woman, then secretary to the former Moroccan consul in Murcia, Sidi Mohammed Biedallah, sued the institution for wrongful dismissal. In her filed complaint, she explained that she was dismissed without reason after refusing to give in to sexual harassment she was subjected to by her boss, recalls La Opinion de Murcia.
A month later, the court ruled in favor of the plaintiff, deeming her dismissal null and ordering the Moroccan consulate to "immediately reinstate the woman in her job, with payment of wages from her dismissal until her reinstatement at the rate of 56.89 euros per day, as well as the payment of compensation of 25,000 euros on one hand and 26,086.76 euros on the other hand as interest."
But a year later, it’s almost status quo. The woman claims she has not been reinstated in her job and that she has only received part of the compensation, emphasizing that the consulate still owes her about 26,000 euros.
For not having respected the court’s judgment, the consulate was back in court on Wednesday. The woman’s lawyer, Mr. Joaquín Dólera, requested the seizure of the consulate’s accounts to ensure that it will comply with the judgment in its entirety. The woman’s defense also pleaded for the former employee to be affiliated with social security.
