Moroccan Consul in Almeria, Kamal Haoudi, Dies at 54 from Heart Attack

The Consul of Morocco in Almeria, Kamal Haoudi, died at the age of 54 from a heart attack that occurred at his home. Condolences and expressions of compassion have been addressed to the Moroccan consulate in recent days.

Kamal Haoudi, who died on December 31, was appointed Consul of Morocco in Almeria at the end of June and took office in August. His appointment is part of a "mobility plan" and "rejuvenation" of Moroccan diplomatic missions in Spain, the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs had indicated. Prior to this position, Kamal Haoudi had represented the kingdom in Argentina.

Since taking office in the province of Almeria, Kamal Haoudi has shown his willingness to get closer to Spanish institutions and authorities, reports La Voz de Almeria, specifying that he has met with the Sub-Delegate of the Government, José María Martín, the President of the Provincial Council of Almería, Javier Aureliano García, the Delegate of the Government of the Andalusia Council, Aránzazu Martín, and the President of the Port Authority, Rosario Soto.

During the last World Cup in Qatar, Kamal Haoudi had launched an appeal for civic-mindedness to the Moroccan community in Almeria to avoid incidents during the celebration of the Moroccan team’s victories. The Moroccan community of Almeria is the largest foreign community in the province with more than 63,000 people, according to official data. It is also the largest to be affiliated with social security with 22,916 people.
