Moroccan Community Leads in Spanish Citizenship Grants, New Data Shows

Some 24,500 Moroccans obtained Spanish nationality in 2019, according to the latest figures published by the Spanish National Institute of Statistics (INE).
Morocco is followed by Equatorial Guinea (8,145 people), Colombia (7,512) and finally Bolivia (7,404).
According to the latest INE figures, 864,546 Moroccans are legally established in Spain as of January 1st, up 6.3% from 2019.
In total, 98,858 foreigners obtained Spanish nationality in 2019, 8.9% more than the previous year. In this group, 47.1% are men and 52.9% are women.
In detail, 76,842 citizens (77.72%) acquired Spanish nationality after 10 years of legal and permanent residence in Spain. Furthermore, foreigners are more concentrated in Catalonia (24,084) and Madrid (22,161), or 46.8% of those naturalized in 2019.
