Moroccan Coach Walid Regragui Named Among World’s Best by Spanish Media
At the end of the 2022/2023 season, which saw the World Cup in Qatar and club competitions take place, some coaches have managed to stand out, according to the Spanish newspaper Marca, including the coach of the Lions of the Atlas, Walid Regragui.
The top three are made up of inescapable figures: Pep Guardiola, who led Manchester City to a historic treble; Lionel Scaloni, the architect of Argentina’s triumph at the World Cup; and Luciano Spalletti, who brought the third Scudetto to Naples after 30 years of waiting. But among these aces of the round ball, one name particularly catches the eye: Walid Regragui. The Moroccan coach distinguished himself by an exceptional performance during the 2022 World Cup, leading the Moroccan team to the semi-finals.
Marca recalls that the former Racing player arrived after the dismissal of Halilhodzic. He had just won the championship and the Champions League with Wydad, but the 2022 World Cup consecrated him: Morocco - which finished fourth - signed the best participation of an African selection in the history of the World Cup, writes the sports newspaper.
Here is the ranking of the coaches of the 2022/2023 season, established by MARCA:
• Pep Guardiola (Manchester City)
• Lionel Scaloni (Argentina)
• Luciano Spalletti (Napoli)
• Walid Regragui (Morocco)
• Xavi Hernández (Barcelona)
• Simone Inzaghi (Inter)
• José Luis Mendilibar (Seville)
• Eddie Howe (Newcastle)
• Franck Haise (Lens)
• Uros Fischer (Union Berlin)
