Moroccan Club Denies Reports of Jersey Ban in Algeria Over Sahara Map

The Moroccan club Renaissance de Berkane formally denied the information that Algeria had banned the entry of its jersey into its territory during its next match against Union Sportive de la Médina d’Alger because of a map of Morocco including the Sahara.
The information stating that Algeria has banned the entry of the Renaissance de Berkane jersey into its territory during its next match against Union Sportive de la Médina d’Alger is "totally false", assured a club official to the Al3omk site, adding that the club had not received any correspondence on this subject.
According to the official, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) approved during the season the jersey with which Renaissance de Berkane is participating in this edition of the CAF Confederation Cup, and which for the first time bears the map of Morocco. In addition, the Moroccan club had already participated in the competitions with this jersey. He also said that the club had decided, in agreement with the host team, to wear the special white jersey for away matches.
Renaissance de Berkane faces Union Sportive de la Médina d’Alger on Sunday, April 21, 2024, as part of the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals. As for the return leg, it will take place on Sunday, April 28.
