Moroccan Cities Climb Global Rankings in Oxford Economics Study

Several Moroccan cities appear in the global ranking of the Global Cities Index by Oxford Economics, which measures the strengths and weaknesses of major metropolises across five key dimensions, including economy, quality of life, and human capital
Casablanca ranks 412th globally according to the economic index, 260th for the human resources index, and 584th for quality of life, according to the Global Cities Index 2025, recently published by Oxford Economics. Rabat takes the 447th place, 398th for the economic index. The city of Tangier occupies the 584th position, Fez the 640th. As for Marrakech, it ranks 648th globally. The capital of Souss, the city of Agadir, improves its place in the ranking. It moved from 719th for the economic index to 656th place. The Ismaili capital, Meknes, is positioned at 682nd.
New York has the largest urban economy in the world. The American city ranks first in the economic index and fourth in the human resources index. It is followed by the British capital London. Paris rises to third place. Sokoto, a Nigerian city, is at the bottom of the ranking (1000th and last in the world.)
Dubai, 50th globally, (United Arab Emirates) tops the Arab ranking. It is followed by Abu Dhabi (73rd) and the Saudi capital Riyadh (97th globally).
According to the report’s forecasts, global cities will welcome more than half a billion additional inhabitants by 2050, which represents a "considerable opportunity for these urban centers" and the average household income in these cities will double over the next twenty-five years, compared to the current situation.
