Moroccan Chef Crowned World Pizza Champion in Naples Competition

A young Moroccan pizza maker has won the title of world pizza champion at the 22nd edition of the World Pizza Championship, the "Caputo Trophy". A first for an African.
A crowning achievement for Ayoub Ayach. After finishing third in 2022, second in 2023, the young Moroccan pizza maker wins first place this year in the highly coveted "seasonal pizza" category at the 22nd edition of the World Pizza Championship, "Trofeo Caputo", which was held from June 3 to 5, 2025 in Naples. His creativity, technical precision, and mastery of seasonal products allowed him to surpass more than 600 competitors from over 40 countries. A first victory for an African, for a Moroccan. On his Instagram account, Ayach doesn’t hide his joy: "Praise be to God, I have achieved a dream that has long inspired me... I have finally reached the top this year... Long live Morocco, with the motto: God, Country, King".
The Caputo family, a well-known figure in Italian professional flour, organizes this international competition every year in Italy. Several criteria are taken into consideration for the evaluation of candidates: dough quality, cooking, balance of ingredients, presentation, and respect for the spirit of each category. Several tests are offered: Neapolitan pizza, gluten-free pizza, acrobatic performances, and even American pizza.
