Moroccan MP Challenges Royal Air Maroc’s High Ticket Prices, Citing Competitor Disparities

Member of Parliament Rachid Hamouni, president of the Progress and Socialism group in the House of Representatives, expresses his incomprehension regarding the "prices of certain flights, both domestic and international, operated by Royal Air Maroc," which are "two to three times more expensive than those offered by other operators (for the same day and the same route)."
The sharp increase in airfare prices offered by Royal Air Maroc is concerning Member of Parliament Rachid Hamouni. In a written question addressed to the Minister of Transport and Logistics on this subject, he emphasizes that it "is inconceivable that the price of certain flights, both domestic and international, operated by Royal Air Maroc, is two to three times higher than that offered by other operators (for the same day and the same route)," because "this reality goes against the objectives of the national strategy to support air transport, as well as the purposes of the state’s financial support to this national company, which should position itself as a leader in terms of prices, services, fleet, and routes."
For the president of the Progress and Socialism group, "the competitive position expected from Royal Air Maroc, which benefits from financial support from the state through a program contract, does not depend solely on the number of planes, passengers, or routes, but especially on the quality of services and the level of ticket prices, which must be both in line with Moroccans’ purchasing power and competitive with the fares offered by other low-cost airlines."
The PPS elected official then asks the minister about the measures he intends to "take to ensure truly competitive and accessible fares for travelers for Royal Air Maroc airline tickets."
