Moroccan Celebrities Targeted in Social Media Blackmail Scheme, Police Investigate

Faced with multiple complaints, the BNPJ is on the trail of the managers of a page that has become very popular on social networks. After the publication on this page of compromising photos of his wife, a very well-known personality from Marrakech, has threatened to immolate himself at the headquarters of the Wilaya of security in Marrakech, reports the360.

Cases of blackmail are legion. According to the daily Assabah, Mohamed Madimi, the President of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) reacted to this scandal by filing a direct complaint with the Attorney General, Mohamed Abdennabaoui. Indeed, the managers of the said electronic page have attacked several CNDH lawyers, including two bar presidents. Their photos and those of the members of their respective families have been published with serious accusations as captions.

Subsequently, the BNPJ is conducting investigations to shed light on this case. For his part, the President of the CNDH has presented documents and CDs containing videos and photos of several victims, published by the incriminated page. Among them, there are eight who are from Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakech and Agadir.

The same source indicates that the creation of this page follows the bankruptcy of a company in Rabat, of which two young people were the owners. After this situation, they had decided to return to their hometown, Marrakech. But a dispute opposed them. It was then that one of them exploited the nickname of the rival’s girlfriend to create this page, the purpose of which is to blackmail artists and celebrities in Morocco.
