Moroccan Car Insurance Grace Period Ends April 30, Renewals Required

Motor insurance contracts that expired since March 20 last, have benefited from an exceptional measure due to the state of health emergency. According to the Moroccan Federation of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies (FMSAR), this extension period ends as of April 30.
Vehicles, according to a press release from the FMSAR, "will have to be validly covered by valid insurance as of May 1st". Moreover, policyholders who choose not to renew their contracts as of May 1st, "would be liable for the premium relating to the period from the expiration of their contracts to April 30".
To allow its policyholders to comply with the confinement imposed due to the health crisis, the FMSAR recalls in a press release that its member companies had decided to extend motor insurance contracts that expire between March 20, 2020 and April 30 to allow policyholders to renew them according to an exceptionally wide deadline set at April 30. The press release also specifies that at the time of renewal, "the policyholder regularizes his situation with his usual insurer and pays his insurance premium from the date of expiration of his contract".
Thus, insurance companies are inviting all policyholders whose contracts have expired since March 20 to contact their usual insurance advisors to renew them. The FMSAR specifies that insurance companies and their partners, agents and brokers, are organized to "ensure this renewal under the best conditions of hygiene and safety in order to protect their employees as well as their clients".
