Moroccan Buyers Surge in Spanish Real Estate Market, Ranking Third in Castellón

Moroccans are among the top foreign buyers of homes in Castellón, in eastern Spain.
The properties in this province of the Valencian community continue to attract particular interest from foreigners. According to the 2023 notarial statistics published by the Castellón Notarial College, Moroccans are in the Top 3 of foreign buyers of homes in the city, with 332 purchases, behind Romanians (662) and French (403). In the top 10, we find Ukrainians (88) and Russians (58), and beyond, the Swiss and the Chinese, relays El Periodico Mediterráneo.
For the past year, 2,826 properties out of a total of 12,399 were acquired by foreigners in Castellón, indicates the Notarial College in its report, noting a decrease of 2.73% compared to a year earlier. In financial terms, foreigners spend an average of 86,324.90 euros to buy a property in the province, an amount below the 91,380.21 euros spent on average by Spaniards.
In detail, 96.07% of foreigners have a preference for second-hand houses and the remaining 3.78% for the purchase of new constructions. Only 0.15% have acquired a house under construction. The majority of these acquisitions, or 78.5%, concern apartments. The remaining 21.5% are made up of single-family properties. Localities such as Castelló, Peñíscola, Vinaròs, Orpesa or Cabanes are the favorites of these foreigners.
