Moroccan Bus Assembly Hits 41% Local Integration, Aims for 60%

As part of the renewal of the urban transport fleet in Casablanca, Irizar Maroc is responsible for assembling buses in the kingdom. It reaches a local integration rate of 41% with an ultimate goal of 60%, according to the Minister of Industry, Moulay Hafid Elalamy.
Irizar Maroc, the successful bidder for the supply of 200 buses for public transport in the city of Casablanca, is today realizing the Moroccan vision which requires that national companies participate in national tenders. For the Minister of Industry, pending reaching 60% integration rate, the entire chain is upgrading.
The government member also highlighted the availability of high-caliber skills at the national level that have contributed to the local manufacture of these buses that Morocco previously imported. According to him, his wish is to see more factories contribute to improving the local integration rate. The minister believes that Morocco should not continue to buy buses manufactured abroad.
According to Moulay Hafid Elalamy, the kingdom should export highly competitive, high-quality buses like those assembled by Irizar. He did not fail to reiterate his commitment to supporting the Moroccan industry to increase its capacity and skills.
To recall, Irizar Maroc assembles these buses on Scania brand chassis, 12 meters long and with a capacity of 33 seats. These vehicles incorporate the latest technology in terms of safety, comfort and accessibility. They are also equipped with ramps for wheelchairs.
