Moroccan-Born Runner Clinches Second Place in Spanish Trail Championship

After years of perseverance, Ikram Rharsalla, an athlete of Moroccan origin, became in February the runner-up in the Spanish trail championship.
Born in Oujda, Ikram Rharsalla arrived in Spain at the age of 12 and currently resides in Dúrcal (Granada). It was her partner, Manu Anguita, who passed on his love of mountain running to her in 2015. But it was not until 2019 that she started training seriously and participating in trail competitions.
Very quickly, she won important races like the Transvulcania in October. Since last February, she has become the runner-up in the Spanish trail championship, a title won at the Trail Las Palomas. "I reached this level thanks to my partner, Manuel Anguita, who passed on to me his love for the mountains and sport," said the Millet runner in an interview with Trail Run.
"I truly believe that it is thanks to the women who have fought for years for us to have more visibility, that I have had an easy path. I thank them for that. It is true that there are still things to improve, but we are becoming more and more visible and we are given the value we deserve," added Ikram Rharsalla.
