Moroccan Border Delays: 6-Hour Wait Times Plague Travelers Entering Ceuta

The situation is still chaotic at the Moroccan border of Ceuta on Saturday. Moroccans in Europe, engaged in the return phase of Operation Marhaba, continue to spend more than 6 hours waiting before accessing the autonomous city.
Despite the delays accumulated by the shipping companies, no emergency plan is yet planned at the port of Ceuta where the situation is normal. The authorities do not plan to declare the interchangeability of tickets or the change of ship schedules, which shows that the situation is under control in Ceuta.
On the other hand, at the Moroccan border with Ceuta, the situation is still critical. The MREs spend more than six hours waiting in long lines before entering the autonomous city. A waiting period that travelers are experiencing with difficulty due to the lack of catering services in the area. To get a simple bottle of water, the MREs are forced to walk up to 2 kilometers, reports Ceuta TV.
Saturday morning, 120 to 130 vehicles were arriving per hour at the port of Ceuta from Morocco. In the early afternoon, the traffic jam became monstrous on the Moroccan side of the border, caused by the thorough control carried out by the Moroccan agents in order to avoid situations like those experienced at the beginning of the week, when a vehicle loaded with 250 kilos of hashish managed to access Ceuta from Morocco.
