Moroccan Billionaire Anas Sefrioui and Family Face Court Over Alleged Illegal Demolition

The businessman, Anas Sefrioui and his family will have to appear before the court of first instance in Casablanca on September 14. This summons follows the complaint filed by EPC Maroc for the demolition without notice of its premises in Bouskoura.
Legal troubles in prospect for Anas Sefrioui and his family? Anas Sefrioui and the members of his family Saad Sefrioui, Kenza Sefrioui and Malik Sefrioui are summoned to appear before the Criminal Chamber of the Court of First Instance of Casablanca on September 14, 2021. EPC Maroc had in the meantime brought several legal actions against the Foncière Iskane company following the demolition deemed abusive and without notice on March 29, 2021 of its administrative and commercial premises in Bouskoura.
The company had also filed a direct summons on June 8 before the criminal court against Anas Sefrioui, Saad Sefrioui, Kenza Sefrioui and Malik Sefrioui. As part of this last procedure, EPC Maroc is claiming a provisional indemnity as damages for the losses suffered of ten million dirhams pending the finalization of the expert assessment and evaluation work. The initial partial estimate amounts to 67 million dirhams, only for material losses and thefts.
In a press release, the CEO of the Addoha group had reacted to the complaint filed against him and certain members of his family. "Contrary to the allegations of EPC Maroc, the demolition by the company was carried out in accordance with the legal and regulatory procedures in force and in the presence of the competent authorities. [...] The demolition carried out on March 29, 2021 was carried out in the presence of the competent authorities who found, contrary to what EPC Maroc claims, that the premises were empty and that there were no movable property, no people, no industrial or administrative facilities. A bailiff took note of this," assured Anas Sefrioui.
The boss of Addoha had also made it known that EPC Maroc had signed two protocols of agreement with Foncière Iskane for the final release of the land in 2016 and 2017 and had subsequently transferred its activity to the Machraa Ben Abbou district in the province of Settat.
