Moroccan-Belgian Striker El Ouahdi Commits to Atlas Lions

Zakaria El Ouahdi has put an end to rumors about his choice to play for Belgium, to the detriment of the Atlas Lions. In a press statement, the Belgian-Moroccan striker reaffirmed his attachment to the Moroccan national team.
"Even if they told me I would have a 100% starting spot in the Belgian team, while my chances with Morocco would not exceed 10%, it would be difficult for me to change my choice. I want to give everything I have to get my chance with the Lions," said Zakaria El Ouhadi in an interview with the Belgian media Nieuwsblad.
The 22-year-old player expressed his pride in defending the Moroccan colors: "I won the bronze Olympic medal with Morocco, and I won the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations. I have always worn this jersey with pride, and I made this decision with a sincere heart."
The Belgian-Moroccan striker says he has a memorable memory of his participation in the Paris Games with the Moroccan Olympic team. "I found myself in a team made up of great stars like Hakimi, the top scorer of the tournament Rahimi, and the goalkeeper Munir Mohamedi... These players that I always cheered in front of my TV."
And he adds: "I discovered that they were very humble. Achraf Hakimi immediately put me at ease, and when I performed well on the left side, I felt that I was part of the team. The Olympic bronze medal is safe with my parents, and it will always be one of the trophies I am most proud of."
