Moroccan Bar Association Condemns Lawyers’ Social Media Client Solicitation

If there is a practice that currently repels Bar President Mohamed Berkou, it is the attitude of his colleagues in Rabat. They are launching into the quest for clients on social networks.
The lawyers of Rabat no longer wait for clients to come to them. They are storming social networks which constitute "their virtual offices". This practice is not to the liking of the Bar President, Mohamed Berkou.
To this effect, he issued a press release to denounce the "violations of the customs and practices of the profession and the moral and ethical rules to which lawyers are bound".
"Some colleagues would even have transformed their offices into studios to film videos and broadcast them on electronic sites, Youtube and WhatsApp, presenting them in the form of legal advice," he was surprised.
Mohamed Berkou hammers that it is deplorable and all the more dangerous as some advice is erroneous and can mislead public opinion.
Faced with this situation, the Bar President of Rabat assures that the Bar Council is now taking its responsibilities. Disciplinary sanctions will be handed down in the very near future.
