Moroccan Bank Waives Digital Transaction Fees Amid COVID-19 Crisis

Banking operations initiated on the digital channels of Banque Populaire du Maroc will now be free of charge until June 30, 2020. The approach is in line with the measures initiated to protect and support its customers, individuals and businesses, in this exceptional economic situation.
In a press release, Banque Populaire stated that this approach contributes to the protection and safety of all, in compliance with the current health recommendations. This measure, offered free of charge until June 30, takes into account local individual customers, Moroccans living abroad and professionals. It also covers transfer and cash transfer operations, initiated from the "Chaabi net" transactional website and the "Pocket bank" mobile application.
According to BCP, companies of all sizes, in addition to free access to the "Chaabi net" transactional portal as well as the "PayDirect" platform, can carry out transfer and cash transfer operations free of charge during the same period. It also recalls that "PayDirect" is a service allowing online payment of customs duties and fees related to foreign trade operations.
Also, the Bank is producing educational capsules, in Arabic and French, which will be widely disseminated, the aim being to facilitate access to its online services.
