Moroccan Bank Secures $5 Billion Deal with China’s EXIM Bank to Boost African Exports

Attijariwafa bank (AWB) and the giant EXIM Bank of China have signed a memorandum of understanding for a $5 billion fund, on the sidelines of the 2nd edition of the China International Import Expo.
Promoting African exports to China and financing investments related to the construction of industrial parks in the countries where the AWB Group is present. These are the objectives of the partnership signed by the Executive Director of Attijariwafa bank (AWB), Reda Hamedoun, and the General Director of the International Department of EXIM Bank.
AWB, in a press release, announced the provision of this significant fund to support active operators and promote the development of exporting companies in Morocco and sub-Saharan Africa.
This signed agreement is part of the development of Sino-African relations, announced by the President of China, at the last Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, held in September 2018 in Beijing, according to the same press release.
