Moroccan Bank Attijariwafa Grants 80,000 Loan Deferrals Amid COVID-19 Crisis

Since the start of the covid-19 health crisis, the Attijariwafa Bank (AWB) Group has granted around 80,000 requests for credit repayment deferrals. The deferrals concern both individual customers and businesses.
Totaling 22 billion dirhams (MMDH), these credit repayment deferrals are intended for businesses and individual customers, to enable them to cope with the consequences of covid-19. In a press release, the group indicated that it has put in place a battery of measures since February 24, 2020 based on its first quarter 2020 results. Ensuring the health safety of employees and ensuring the continuity of service in the various countries of presence. This is the objective of these measures, the press release specifies.
To this end, almost all of the Group’s agencies present in Morocco have remained open to serve customers, meet their needs and help them manage the impacts of the crisis. This is in addition to supporting clients and citizens by financing 2,946 young people and project leaders, for an amount of 426 million dirhams (MDH) as part of the "Intilaka" initiative, reaching a market share of 67%, the same source reports.
The same press release indicates that the Attijariwafa Bank (AWB) Group has financed 7,360 companies, including 7,300 SMEs in terms of credits with and without state guarantees for an amount of 13 MMDH, in less than 6 weeks. The distribution of aid served by the State for the benefit of hundreds of thousands of citizens is ensured by Attijariwafa bank, through the provision of branch and ATM networks.
