Moroccan Authorities Arrest 4 Spaniards Near Tangier with 400 kg of Hashish

Four Spaniards were arrested by the elements of the Royal Gendarmerie, on the shores of the Dalia beach, near the port of Tanger Med, not far from Ceuta.
According to the daily Assabah, the four Spanish citizens, aged 24 to 31, were arrested in northern Morocco, near Ksar Sghir, as they were trying to cross the border with 400 kilos of drugs.
Accused of "international drug trafficking and illegal entry into Moroccan territory", they were brought before the investigating judge of the court of first instance in Tangier.
The accused admitted the facts. According to them, they illegally entered Morocco to buy drugs (hashish) and distribute it on Spanish territory, for a commission, on behalf of a major drug trafficker whose identity has not yet been revealed.
In total, 112.13 tons of hashish were seized by the Moroccan security services between January and September 2019, almost doubling the amount seized in 2018 (60.17 tons).
Morocco, with its 52,000 hectares where cannabis is grown, according to the latest available figures, is a world leader in the production of hashish, the main supplier of the European market and one of the main ones in Africa.
