Moroccan Authorities Arrest Daesh-Linked Engineer Suspected of Planning Terror Attack

Revelations have been made about the 37-year-old individual, a supporter of the Daesh organization, active in the city of Berkane, arrested on Friday, May 6, by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) for his alleged involvement in the preparation of a terrorist project aimed at seriously undermining public order.
According to a reliable source, the presumed terrorist leader arrested is a holder of an engineering degree, which makes him more dangerous than the illiterates usually arrested by the BCIJ, reports Médias24. "This academic and technical training would have greatly facilitated his task in designing all the weapons and/or explosives necessary for an attack. It would also have been a considerable asset to improvise, act as an explosives expert or identify the security flaws of targets, in order to perpetrate terrorist acts against Moroccan and foreign interests and personalities on national territory," it assures, revealing that this engineer was in constant contact with a digital group of individuals imbued with the Daesh ideology, of which he was the main administrator.
The same source reports that the 37-year-old man was alone at his home during his morning arrest without resistance by BCIJ elements and that no firearm or knife was found during the subsequent search. "For the moment, the first elements of the investigation have not revealed any link between the suspect and a cell of physical accomplices ready to take action," it said. According to it, the arrest is directly related to the dismantling, on May 25, 2021, of a terrorist cell in the city of Oudja, very close to Berkane. "It was following this dismantling that another ancillary investigation was opened and made it possible to identify, then to arrest preventively the suspect of Berkhane before he committed the unthinkable."
The same source also indicated that only the results of the analysis of the terrorist suspect’s computer equipment by the scientific police laboratory will provide more evidence on his accomplices, objectives and means...
