Moroccan Association Urges King’s Intervention in Real Estate Fraud Cases

The Association for Law and Justice in Morocco (ADJM) is once again calling on King Mohammed VI to lend a hand in a case of real estate spoliation.
In an open letter dated December 26, 2016, the ADJM had requested the intervention of the sovereign and the former President of the French Republic, François Hollande, to help the victims of land spoliation. This time, the association is asking King Mohammed VI to intervene. In parallel, the ADJM had created an Anti-Spoliation Mechanism before the appointment of the new Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Ouahbi, in October 2021.
"Certainly, measures have been taken by successive governments. But it must be acknowledged that the progress is not up to the legitimate expectations of the population and the victims," regrets the Association. Worse, the situation has greatly worsened with the Covid-19 pandemic. The land predators "rely on this scourge" to carry out their crimes.
While legal professionals are fighting alone against "unqualifiable actions", maneuvers are aimed at "preventing them from accomplishing their mission," warns the association. Over the years, land spoliation has become an industry favoring money laundering and corruption, comments L’Économiste.
