Moroccan Artists Protest Festival Organizers’ High Fees and Exclusionary Practices

Many Moroccan artists denounce the greed of festival organizers to appropriate the singer’s fee in exchange for listing his name in one of the summer events. They call on the Ministry of Culture to intervene.
Some Moroccan artists can no longer stand the actions of brokers. There are brokers who deduct 70% of the artist’s fee in exchange for listing his name in one of the summer festivals, denounced Abdelali El Ghaoui on social networks. His colleague Hajar Adnane republished El Ghaoui’s statement to confirm the problems she and other singers denounce. They complain of being excluded from artistic evenings and festivals.
Last week, Chaimae Abdelaziz criticized this exclusion of which she and some of her colleagues say they are victims, while most of the Moroccan artists who performed during the 19th edition of the Mawazine - Rhythms of the World Festival, held from June 20 to 29 in Rabat and Salé, "do not", according to her, "have neither the voice nor the stage presence".
Faced with this persistent situation, the "boycotted" artists call on the Minister of Culture to intervene by putting an end to the manipulations of the brokers.
