Moroccan Animal Rights Group Decries Deadly Stray Dog Cull Near Rabat

Several stray dogs were shot dead with guns in the commune of Sidi Yahya Zaer, near Rabat, on January 23. An association calls on the government to take more action to end this "genocide".
Another massacre of stray dogs in Morocco. The animal protection association, La Tribu des Quat’pattes, shared a video showing several dead dogs piled up in trucks, after a hunt that took place in Sidi Yahya Zaër on Sunday, January 23, five minutes from the shelter where many abandoned stray dogs live. "They were mercilessly brutal, in strange scenes that we can hardly witness except in Hollywood movies. They take us back to the eras of slavery using bullets, as if we were at war with the enemy," lamented the shelter, which describes this massacre as a "genocide of stray dogs".
La Tribu des Quat’pattes also deplores the slaughter of the dogs. "Where are the associations, especially the local and international animal welfare associations? And where are those who claim responsibility in these countries? Is there really a special budget for stray dogs that Morocco benefits from according to international conventions? And who benefits from it? Is there really a principle linking responsibility to accountability in this country?", it questions, calling on the government to take more action.
