Moroccan and Israeli Business Leaders Meet to Boost Economic Ties After Normalization

The employers’ associations of Morocco and Israel organized several virtual meetings on Monday, January 4th to discuss initiatives to boost economic cooperation between the two countries. These are the first contacts between the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and the Manufacturers Association of Israel (MAI) since the normalization of relations.
During these first meetings, the CGEM and the MAI were respectively represented by their top officials, Chakib Alj, President of the CGEM, and Ron Tomer, President of the Manufacturers Association of Israel (MAI). Mehdi Tazi, Vice-President of the CGEM and Dan Cataviras, Managing Director of the Foreign Trade Division within the MAI, were also present during these virtual exchanges.
These exchanges focused on reviving economic and trade cooperation based on a win-win partnership and on vital sectors for the development of investments and co-investments. This meeting between the Moroccan and Israeli private sectors comes a few days after a virtual interview between the Moroccan Minister of Industry and the Israeli Minister of Economy. The two officials had discussed the prospects for industrial cooperation between the two countries.
It should be noted that the resumption of relations could be strengthened by the inauguration on January 16th of commercial flights between Casablanca and Tel Aviv, with four weekly frequencies.
