Moroccan-American YouTuber’s Health Deteriorates During Month-Long Hunger Strike in Prison

According to statements by his wife, Chakib Amrani’s health condition has deteriorated significantly. The YouTuber, determined to observe an unlimited strike, would have lost a lot of weight. After a month of fasting, the MRE is holding on and hopes to obtain a dismissal, adds his wife.

Chakib Amrani, an American citizen of Moroccan origin, was arrested because of statements made on social media. He would not be entitled to a break for a walk. He would also be prohibited from contacting other detainees.

Holding American nationality, he had been arrested on February 6 on his arrival at Rabat airport. The MRE is being prosecuted for his involvement "in criminal acts, by publishing a series of videos insulting constitutional institutions, constituted bodies and civil servants".
