Moroccan Actor Nominated for BAFTA: Youssef Kerkour Recognized for Refugee Role in British Comedy ’Home’

The Moroccan Youssef Kerkour is nominated for the BAFTA Awards, one of the most prestigious British film awards. He is recognized for his role as a Syrian refugee in the comedy series "Home".
The Moroccan actor and his challengers were nominated last week. Their nominations were delayed due to the global health crisis due to covid-19.
The Moroccan is nominated in the category of "best male comedy performance in ’Home’". He played the role of Sami Ibrahim, in the British series broadcast on Channel 4 and written by the British writer and actor Rufus Jones. It had been written for the first time in 2015, when anti-immigration waves had started to intensify in the UK in the light of the refugee crisis in Europe.
For the lucky winner who commented on the news on his Twitter account, this nomination is a great honor. He did not fail to salute his many fans for their support.
For the record, Youssef Kerkour (41 years old), after leaving Rabat, his hometown, joined the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in London where he has been living for a few years. At 41, he has already made a name for himself for his roles in the series "Dracula", "Redemption", "Criminal" and "Marcella".
