Moroccan PM Accuses Polisario Front of Spreading Misinformation on Western Sahara Conflict

The head of the Moroccan government declared that the Polisario Front is multiplying false information, engaging in a "media war" and "imaginary victories". The movement claimed on Monday to have killed three Moroccan soldiers in the south of the country.
In a tweet, Saad-Eddine El Othmani, noted on Wednesday that the Polisario Front has recently distinguished itself as the winner of battles that would have taken place in the area of conflict. He refers to the communiqué published last Monday by the Algerian-backed separatist movement, which reports an "operation against a garrison of Moroccan forces stationed in Ouarkziz, inside Morocco" in the Akka region (south). The communiqué widely relayed by the Sahrawi agency SPS indicates that in addition to the three Moroccan soldiers killed, the operation would have allowed "the seizure of weapons, ammunition and documents".
But so far, no official Moroccan source has been able to confirm this information. A Facebook page of the Royal Armed Forces describes the Polisario operation as a "malicious rumor of the enemies of the Moroccan nation". This unofficial Facebook page stressed that "the Polisario claims to be in a state of legitimate self-defense since Morocco sent troops to the buffer zone of Guerguerat to drive out a group of Sahrawi activists who were blocking the only road to neighboring Mauritania".
