Moroccan Drone Strike Kills Top Polisario Military Official in Western Sahara

A strike launched by a Moroccan drone killed the Polisario’s gendarmerie chief in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, April 8. This announcement was made by Mustapha Selma, former inspector general of the police of the independence movement.
The independence movement had announced that Addah Al-Bendir, "the chief of the Polisario gendarmerie, fell on Tuesday in the Rouss Irni area, in Tifariti" before deleting the information from its website, reports Mowatine. Mustapha Selma, former inspector general of the police of the independence movement, confirmed to the same media the death of the soldier in a Moroccan raid. However, the circumstances of this death are unclear. In Rabat, no official source has confirmed the information.
On the unofficial Facebook page of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), it is written that "several leading elements" of the Polisario, including the head of the gendarmerie, "died" after an operation by the Moroccan army. This operation followed "suspicious movements of Polisario leaders inside the buffer zones". The same forum specifies that Brahim Ghali, head of the independence movement who was also in one of the buffer zones "survived" this air strike.
