Moroccan MP Accused of Sexual Harassment, Sparks Government Scandal

A scandal is hitting the El Othmani government head-on. The National Rally of Independents (RNI) and the Constitutional Union are at the heart of an accusation of sexual harassment.
The plaintiff is the regional coordinator of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) in Taourirt. She accuses a member of parliament from the Constitutional Union of sexual harassment, reveals Le360 citing the daily Assabah.
In a video circulating on social networks, the coordinator explains that she was denied access to the headquarters of her party, where she has been working for more than 4 years, by the MP for refusing his sexual advances. She goes further by claiming that the MP from the Constitutional Union threatened her with losing her job if she refused to have sexual relations with him. "I am a free woman. I will not lower myself before any person wishing to blackmail me sexually," she said.
The RNI, to show its good faith in this matter, quickly reacted in an official press release, in which it announces that it has submitted the file to the regional disciplinary council of the party in Taourirt, chaired by the former Minister of Justice Mohamed Aujjar, who promised that "the investigation will be carried out to the end, even if it means referring the matter to the competent judicial authorities". For him, "the National Rally of Independents is an institution-based party open to all and its management is governed by texts and laws", refusing "any attack on its reputation".
