Monaco’s Royal Lineage: Why Gad Elmaleh’s Son Lacks Prince Title

The son that Moroccan comedian Gad Elmaleh had with his ex-partner, Charlotte Casiraghi, does not have the title of prince. Here are the reasons.
Grandson of Princess Caroline and great-nephew of Sovereign Prince Albert II, Raphaël, soon to be 7 years old, son of this couple who separated since 2016, does not have a title in Monaco and will not have one. "No, he will not be a Prince of Monaco. He will not have a title," the comedian had replied, a guest of Yann Barthès on the show Quotidien on TMC, on October 14, 2019. He had explained that the first heirs are Jacques and Gabriella, the children of Albert and Charlene Wittstock.
Raphaël will especially not have the title of prince because his mother, Charlotte, is not a princess. "I am not a princess. My mother is, not me. I am the niece of a head of state and in this capacity, I have a few representative duties, nothing very constraining or very exceptional," the equestrian and literature enthusiast had explained to Vogue in 2011.
After the couple’s separation, Raphaël’s mother lives with a man with whom she has a 2-year-old son. On his father Gad’s side, the little boy has a 20-year-old half-brother, Noé. A son the comedian had with Anne Brochet. The comedian and the beautiful Monegasque, who maintain good relations, ensure the education of their son between Paris and the Rock.
